You as part of tonies:
We are seeking an experienced Linux System Engineer to design, implement, and maintain robust infrastructure for our global manufacturing operations. In this role, you'll ensure 24/7 system reliability, optimize performance across on-premise and AWS environments, and drive the scalability of our production systems. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, you’ll help shape system architecture, establish best practices, and ensure security and compliance. Your tasks and responsibilities will include:
  • Design and implement infrastructure and networking solutions for production systems in both on-premise and AWS environments
  • Contribute to system design and architecture decisions for production systems, ensuring performance
  • Ensure 24/7 operational reliability and manage the health of key infrastructure components
  • Collaborate with engineers and SREs to design scalable system solutions as well as maintain security and compliance in our production infrastructure 
  • Develop infrastructure automation with tools like Ansible
  • Implement monitoring, logging, alerting, and distributed tracing for system observability
  • Create and maintain disaster recovery and backup solutions
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting across time zones with production and engineering teams
  • Monitor, optimize, and troubleshoot system performance across infrastructure layers
  • Establish and follow best practices for infrastructure to ensure consistent team implementation
  • Keep infrastructure documentation up to date and aligned with best practices

What we are looking for:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or a related field
  • 7+ years of work experience in Linux system administration and engineering, preferably with Debian/Ubuntu
  • Strong expertise in infrastructure automation and configuration management (e.g., Ansible)
  • Experience operating and optimizing hybrid production environments (on-premise and AWS)
  • In-depth knowledge of networking technologies and security (TCP/IP, VPN, routing, firewalls, system hardening)
  • Hands-on experience implementing monitoring, logging, and observability solutions (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, Jaeger)
  • Proven ability to design and maintain highly available and scalable infrastructure systems
  • Experience with disaster recovery strategies and backup systems
  • Strong scripting skills in Shell (Bash) and Python for automation
  • Excellent communication skills and experience working with international, cross-functional teams
